Volunteer Programs

WWCC is a wildlife rehabilitation center that educates the public about man's impact on the indigenous wildlife species and treats orphaned, injured, and sick wildlife species. Our members get to work with all kinds of wildlife including opossums, ducks, squirrels, raccoons, gulls, and hummingbirds. At WWCC members learn the different behaviors of wildlife species and how to handle them. Members also get to be a part of releasing the animals back into the wild!

Hemopet is a non-profit animal blood bank and greyhound rescue/adoption center that was established in 1986. This organization takes in retired racing greyhounds from several states who then periodically donate their life saving blood. Fun fact: Greyhounds typically have the universal blood type for dogs. Their blood is provided to veterinary clinics for transfusions. After these life saving greyhounds have their blood donated, they are put up for adoption.

PAWA members volunteer by walking and cuddling these cute dogs to give them some companionship and much needed love. Not only do members get to spend time and relieve stress with these greyhounds they play a part in saving many dogs lives.

South Coast Pet Hospital is an exotic as well as dog and cat animal hospital. This practice includes grooming, boarding, a medicine dispensary, surgery suite, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory.  Our members get to shadow the veterinarians and have the chance to interact with different types of animals. Some of the animals that come in include dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, birds and iguanas! full service animal hospital that provides affordable and compassionate care.

Villa Park Animal Clinic has been serving pets and their families in Villa Park and surrounding cities in Orange County for more than 40 years. Members shadow veterinarians and are able to observe  routine exams, vaccines, teeth cleanings , radiography, ultrasound and much more!

This hospital is owned by the same veterinarians that own South Coast Pet Hospital. This hospital also treats exotic animals like reptiles and birds as well treats mammals. Our members shadow veterinarians and get to experience regular examinations, surgeries and much more!

PAWA members were supposed to start shadowing the veterinarians at PetPoint Medical Center and Resort this spring however due to the recent pandemic we were unable to start this program. We hope to be able to be able to volunteer once regular activites begin again and school is in person.

Other Programs
Whale watching

PAWA loves to go whale watching as a fun social. We get to hang out with other members, make new friends, and learn fun facts about whales!

UC Davis Vet Med school was gracious enough to set up a tour for PAWA members. Members were to visit Davis during spring break and see some of the worlds greatest veterinary facilities. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 the trip had to be cancelled. We hope to be able to reschedule the tour next spring break in 2020-2021!

Animal CPR training

PAWA offers a CPR training and certification class run by a certified professional. After attending the session our members are awarded their certifications and are officially animal CPR certified!

Alligator Guests

PAWA likes to bring in guest speakers who sometimes like to bring in special guests! Our members were educated on alligator behavior and physiology as well as gained hands on experience with the alligators!
